Big Run Kava Bar

We had a wonderful experience at Big Run, we each had a different flavor with a energy elixir and almost immediately noticed a difference. We can’t wait to try the relax elixir too. We will be regulars I’m sure! Shaylee and Brandon the owners were great!

Sitting near the top of N Court Street, I believe I can refer to this must-visit hang out spot accurately as a hidden gem of Athens proper. Whether you are catching up with friends, going on a first date, or camping out for an all-day work/study session, this place has it all! You can opt for a relaxing (and high quality) kava, fun mocktail, refreshing botanical tea, or a freshly brewed (hot or iced) coffee or espresso drink- and dare I say this is the best coffee in Athens? The owner Shay has taken a liking to some locally available ingredients, like tea brand Herbal Sage Tea Co, as the kava bar works to deepen its roots in the local community and economy. Oh, and they host weekly events that include open mic nights, live performances, trivia, bingo, paint n sips, and more- even during the summer "off season." I've been here a few times now, and each experience has been lovely. I've had several kava drinks, all of which have been delicious. As someone new to kava, the owners were super informative and knowledgeable about their products. The espresso and coffee drinks I've tried have also been incredible. There are drinks for everyone here, and all of them are reasonably priced! I love that they're bringing something new to Athens. That being said, the true beauty of this place is the intentionality of the owners. Not only are they incredibly personable, but they're really trying to build an awesome space for the community to gather. From game nights, to craft classes, to a chess club, to open mics, and more; I want to commend the owners not only running an awesome new business but building a community. It's so refreshing to see.

A friend and I went to this kava bar today we both had a Chai Tea one hot and one cold. They were very good. Great service and great environment! We will be coming back

I love Big Run Kava so much! I really enjoy their caramel lattes! Also they have very atmospheric lighting and lots of sitting room to do homework at or just hang out with your friends. Overall, a great place to grab a coffee and hang out!

Great place. We need something like this. They know what they are doing! Kava really is something. I hope they stick around!! Chai kava latte was killer.

Best coffee in all of Athens, hands down. The atmosphere is also amazing and is my favorite place to hunker down and study for a few hours. Shay, one of the owners, is one of the sweetest people I have ever met and always remembers things about me and makes sure to foster genuine friendships with her customers. 10/10 you definitely should stop in and try them out!
